The Board

Beach is strongly supported by its Board of Directors, comprised of industry experts who are key players in ensuring continuation of the group’s independent decision making. Investment from Aquiline Capital Partners has added a new dimension to the Board, drawing on the group’s vast experience in reinsurance and beyond, across the broader financial sector. Crucially, the Beach Board takes a global approach, incorporating insights from its international clients and offices.

  • Grahame Millwater
    Chief Executive

    Grahame joined Beach Capital Holdings Ltd in 2013 after 27 years with Willis, where he served in a number of senior positions, becoming President of the Willis Group in 2008. At Willis he was responsible for revenue development, insurance and reinsurance carrier relationships, major accounts and analytics & advisory development, while managing Reinsurance, Global Specialty, Global Markets and Global Major Accounts operations.

  • William Malloy
    Chairman, New York

    Bill is a Partner of Aquiline Capital Patners LLC.  He joined Aquiline in 2007. Before joining Aquiline, he was President of Marsh Inc. During his tenure at Marsh, he also served as the CEO of Marsh’s European/Middle East region and as Head of the firm’s worldwide financial and professional practice. Bill is the Chairman of Futurity First Financial Corporation and Beach U.K. Holdco Limited, and is a Director of Group Ark Insurance Holdings Ltd. He is also a member of the Board of St. John’s School of Risk Management. He earned a B.S. degree in Management and Communications from Fairfield University.

  • Christopher Watson
    Director, New York

    Chris is a Partner of Aquiline Capital Partners LLC.  He joined Aquiline  in 2005. Before joining Aquiline, he served in a variety of executive roles within the property and casualty insurance businesses of Citigroup and its predecessor entities. He was President and CEO of Gulf Insurance Group and served on the risk committee and planning group for Travelers’ Insurance operations. He is a Director of Validus Holdings Ltd, Group Ark Insurance Holdings Ltd, Equity Red Star DGB Ltd, Beach U.K. Holdco Limited and Worley Claims Services. He earned his B.A. from the City University of New York.

  • Jason Rotman
    Director, New York

    Jason is a Partner of Aquiline Capital Partners LLC.  He joined Aquiline in 2008.  Prior to joining Aquiline he was with Swiss Re, where he held a variety of roles within private equity, corporate development and the insurance-linked securities businesses.  He ultimately became head of alternative investments for the United States.  Jason began his career as an analyst with the financial institutions group at Smith Barney.  He is a director of Beach & Associates, Ltd.; Conning Holdings Corp. and Worley Claims Services.  He received a B.A. in economics from Duke University.

  • John Cartwright
    Director, Toronto

    John has 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry, with 12 in reinsurance broking and 10 in reinsurance underwriting.  His main area of focus has been in banking and investment. He joined Beach as COO in 2003 when the Group began its international expansion and is a Director of Beach U.K. Holdco Limited.  He earned his B.A. from the University of  Toronto and is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant.

  • Jonathan Beach
    Independent Director

    Jonathan began his career at Lloyd’s of London in 1975. In 1988, he founded Beach & Associates, a reinsurance brokerage based in Toronto Canada, subsequently opening offices in London, Sydney, New York and Bermuda. In 2013, Jonathan stepped down from the role of CEO and in 2014 he sold the majority of Beach & Associates to Aquiline Partners. He remains a Director of Beach U.K. Holdco Limited and maintains a keen interest not only in the company but in the global insurance industry generally.

  • Stephen Wood

    Stephen began his financial services career at PWC in Toronto Canada, and has been based in the UK since he transferred to PWC’s Bristol office in 1990. Stephen has worked in various top finance roles mainly in Investment banking for Chemical Bank, Bankers Trust and Credit Suisse. He decided to move away from pure banking and joined Enron where he was kept on by PWC to oversee and assist in the governance and stewardship of Enron’s liquidation, which ended up being one of the biggest and most complicated liquidations in history. Post Enron he moved to General Electric to become a senior executive of one its UK investment businesses which he divested from GE in 2006. He then joined Willis in 2006 as Global Group Controller and made dramatic changes to its finance operations. Stephen was Willis’ Chief Operating Officer of Global Finance Services between 2013 and joining Beach, on 1st February 2016.
