  • Grahame Millwater
    Chief Executive

    Grahame joined Beach Capital Holdings Ltd in 2013 after 27 years with Willis, where he served in a number of senior positions, becoming President of the Willis Group in 2008. At Willis he was responsible for revenue development, insurance and reinsurance carrier relationships, major accounts and analytics & advisory development, while managing Reinsurance, Global Specialty, Global Markets and Global Major Accounts operations.

  • Stephen Wood
    CFO

    Having begun his career in Toronto at PWC, Stephen worked in various top finance roles – mainly in investment banking – for Chemical Bank, Bankers Trust and Credit Suisse.    Stephen later went to Enron where PWC kept him on to oversee and assist in the governance and stewardship of Enron’s liquidation, which ended up being one of the biggest and most complicated liquidations in history.  Post-Enron Stephen worked at General Electric (Chief Financial Officer of one its subsidiaries) and then Willis, where from 2013 he held various senior finance roles from acting Group Chief Financial Officer, Global Group Controller and Chief Operating Officer of Global Finance Services. Stephen joined Beach in February 2016.

  • Simon Hedley
    New York

    Simon has over 31 years’ experience in reinsurance, servicing the North American, London and Asia-Pacific insurance markets. Simon’s main area of expertise is the design, placement and management of large and complex reinsurance programmes in long tail and specialty property classes. Simon joined Beach in 2003 and is involved in all aspects of U.S. operations.

  • Nigel Dane
    London

    Nigel has 35 years of reinsurance broking experience, and has been working at Beach for 14 years. He is one of the most recognised Casualty reinsurance specialists in the market. Nigel established Beach’s first overseas office in 2002.

  • Adam Hedley
    London

    Adam has over 25 years of global reinsurance broking experience across all lines of business. He has worked at Beach for over 10 years, working out of both the Toronto and the London offices. Adam focuses mainly on the streamlining and efficiency of complex placements.

  • David Sowrey
    London

    David is a Senior Market Executive with over 25 years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance. Initially a London market reinsurance and retro specialist, he has worked across most lines of business, ranging from straightforward Property and Casualty to Multi-Class reinsurance and Wind Derivatives. He joined Beach in 2012 to bolster the senior London team and focus on developing the insurance and reinsurance retail franchises.

  • Rob Johnson
    London

    Rob has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries across all lines of business and has worked in senior management and underwriting positions in large and small companies. He is a qualified actuary and accountant and has worked with Beach in a global role for the last 10 years, mainly focusing on structuring efficient reinsurance covers and generally advising on risk and reinsurance.

  • Clark Hontz
    Bermuda

    Clark has 31 years’ experience in reinsurance and began his career in New York as a reinsurance broker. He has a broad experience across Property Catastrophe, Marine, Energy and Aviation. In early 2001, he joined a Bermuda-based reinsurer where he held the positions of Co-Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Ceded Reinsurance. Clark joined Beach in 2010, when he established the firm’s Bermuda office.

  • Michael Cross
    Burlington

    Mike is a Senior Production Executive with over 33 years’ experience in P&C reinsurance. Mike joined Beach in 2015 following the acquisition of Axiom RE LLC, after having served for 28 years with Willis Re and predecessor companies.

  • Jason Howard
    London

    Jason has over 27 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, having worked for Willcox / Johnson & Higgins, various divisions of the Willis Group and Lloyd’s. He was made CEO of Willis Re International and Specialty in 2010. Jason headed up Glencairn in 2012 and oversaw the creation of Faber Global, the combined Willis Facultative and Glencairn, and made CEO following the amalgamation. In July 2014, Jason became CEO of Acappella Holdings.

  • John Cartwright
    Toronto

    John has 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry, with 12 in reinsurance broking and 10 in reinsurance underwriting.  His main area of focus has been in banking and investment. He joined Beach as COO in 2003 when the Group began its international expansion and is a Director of Beach U.K. Holdco Limited.  He earned his B.A. from the University of  Toronto and is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant.

  • Shane Doyle
    London

    Shane has been working in the Insurance market since 1989, having started his career in New Zealand with AIG.  During his 20 years with the company, Shane was posted to Athens where he managed the Mediterranean, Middle East and South Asia region.  He also worked in Paris, managing the European region, before moving on to London to direct the UK operation’s all-in Financial Lines.  In 2010 he joined Zurich as CEO for Australia and New Zealand.  Shane was then DUAL’s Global CEO from 2012 to 2015, a period  in which the company grew to become the world’s largest global MGA.  Shane joined Beach in 2016, to drive the expansion of our growing Portfolio practice.

  • David Wright
    New York

    David has over 12 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, all with Beach, having first joined the Toronto office as a summer student in 2003. David is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and CFA Charterholder, with extensive experience on both broking and analytics teams.  He has worked with global and regional clients across casualty, property and specialty lines of business. David now manages the New York office as well as all of Beach’s North American Analytics teams.

  • Jeff Turner
    Toronto

    Jeff is a senior actuary at Beach and the Managing Director of the Toronto broking team. He began his career in 2005 in the Pensions department at Towers Perrin, after which he joined Beach in 2007 as the its second actuarial employee.  He worked in the London office for almost three years, and has overseen Beach’s Analytics department since 2013.  His specialty is large and complex reinsurance for long tail casualty lines. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics and Engineering and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
